The power of Market America and the Shopping Annuity is spreading globally like wildfire.
Last weekend, over 1,400 entrepreneurs gathered Toronto, Ontario for the 2017 Canadian Regional. The passion of the eager entrepreneurs was on full display as they came ready to learn and spread the wonders of the UnFranchise business.
Those in attendance were in for a treat as some of the best UFOs and experts in this business were on hand to share their tips and techniques for becoming a better entrepreneur. Some of the experts on hand were Dennis Franks, Stacy Tung, and Ryan Stack.
We were lucky enough to have coverage of the event from some of the most social media savvy UFOs in this business. They included Tracey Nguyen, Debbie Tse, Tien Can, and Kate Bialowas. All four of these UFOs were taking pictures and videos of the event and shared them all on social media using the hashtag, #crc2017 (which you can still search).
On behalf of the Shopping Annuity team, we just wanted to thank Tracey, Debbie, Tien, and Kate for their help and support in covering the event. By sharing their favorite moments on social media, people from all around the world were able to follow along with the action. This is the power of social media and why it’s so important for business building!
We were lucky enough to speak with Tracey, Debbie, Tien, and Kate about the Canadian Regional as a whole. The three talked about their favorite speakers, plans for their business in the future, and goals they’d like to attain by MAIC2017. You can read the interview below.
SA Team: In your opinion, how was the event as a whole?
Tracey: I absolutely loved the CRC2017. The speakers were amazing. The energy was amazing. We all have learned a lot!
Debbie: From the moment I stepped foot into CRC2017, I was instantly pumped up with all the positive energy! It was such an honor to listen to so many inspiring speakers. This Regional Convention was the first one I’ve attended, and I am excited for the one in 2018 already because it was that amazing!
Tien: This is by far the BEST regional conference I’ve been to. Every year the organizing team manages to create a better event than the last and I really appreciate their time and efforts to put it together.
Kate: I absolutely loved the CRC! It was more intimate than Miami, which I enjoyed and I loved the focus on how to build a strong and successful team. All of the speakers were incredible too, from Stacy, Ryan and Dennis to our very own Andrew Chee, I was blown away by the presentations!!!
SA Team: We saw that they announced SHOP Local Canada is coming soon. Can you describe the impact that SHOP Local will have in terms of funding your Shopping Annuity?
Tracey: Oh my god! As social media influencers and consumers, my team and I are more than excited to have the SHOP Local in Canada. We are counting down the date. I don’t think you can tell how excited we are but WE ARE!!!!! This is going to be a huge game changer for our business and for other local businesses in Canada. We have bloggers in the team who are already building relationships with brands and local businesses here and preparing for this fantastic launch. No more money spent outside of the Shopping Annuity!
Debbie: Oh my! I love food and I am always trying out new restaurants in Toronto. To be honest, a big factor of why I became a UFO was because I heard that SHOP Local is coming to Canada! This is going to make a huge impact in terms of funding my Shopping Annuity! I work with a few food brands for my corporate job, and also since I am eating out a lot I can channel my money back into my own business through SHOP Local!
Tien: Just speaking about restaurants in Toronto alone, there are more than thousands of stores opening every year, which means intensed competition, but also means people are more willing to spend on eating out and entertainment. Having the Shop Local in Canada means we get to help people save while spending on their daily activities. This will also give the local business a great opportunity for exposure and effective advertising expenses, as our system promotes performance based partnership. In addition to that, we can expand this network to all local businesses and include everyone in the shopping annuity, ie. salons, theaters, and transit.
Kate: SHOP Local is going to be an absolute game changer! For UnFranchise owners, customers and local businesses alike. I can’t wait to fully fund my Shopping Annuity with SHOP Local partner stores! Just counting down the days!
SA Team: Our team always preaches about the impact that social media can have on your business. Why do you feel it is important to have a strong and active social media presence as a UFO?
Tracey: Well, you all know that I have been promoting social media and the online presence to all UFOs since my first conference in Miami in 2013 and hearing Loren preaching about it. I think it is so important for us to leverage and understand how social media is going to be the only way people are exposed to products and services and the only way businesses will pay their marketing dollars on. We have an online business, we need to have a strong online presence and this is where social media comes in. You don’t want to be selling things to people. You want to be able to share your experience to a large amount of people. Because of social media, I was able to have customers in all around the world such as South Africa, Hong Kong, Dubai, etc. These are the places that I wouldn’t have had the chance to expand if I don’t have our SHOP.COM platform and social media.
Debbie: Having a strong and consistent social media presence is very important in order to keep your audiences’ focus. Most likely, people follow you because they like your style so if you choose to change it completely one day, those people that followed you will be thrown off. As a UFO, it is important not to post about the products from SHOP.COM in every single post asking people to purchase it or writing an intense caption advertising the products. The golden rule is to post 80% personal and 20% products. Social media is amazing! It is your window to the whole world; it saves time, it saves money, and it saves the energy to travel to different places to connect to people you’ve never even met! With the implementation of new features on all the social media platforms, we as a UFO have so many opportunities to create relationships with like-minded people and to help out people from everywhere. Another key to posting is to create content that engages your audiences so you can start conversations with them with ease.
Tien: As part of Generation Y and Instagram community, I realize the power of social media in business. Many brands have been reaching out to more and more social media influencers to help them market their products and services, which proves to be highly effective and efficient. Since we are always leading the trend as a company from 1992, I believe we can totally take advantage of this platform to reach out to more customers and create awareness of the Shopping Annuity, potentially helping more people create their own economy.
Kate: I’ve built my brand on social media. It has been essential to where I am in my business and blog today! As a UFO, you can share products, your lifestyle, the events we go to, and how you use the products in your everyday life. The world is your oyster! Everyone is on social media these days and you have the potential to reach SO many people!! Tracey and I actually met on Instagram and decided to start Lipstick and Muffin Media together so you can see how powerful social media can be!
SA Team: JR always preaches the importance of attending business building events such as World Conference, International Convention, and regionals. Why do you feel it is important to attend these events with your team members?
Tracey: Since I started my business with MA, I have never missed a convention. I truly believe that convention is like coming home to our family, to JR and to Loren. Convention is where we get to be inspired, to learn and to strategize for our business for the next 6 months. Most importantly, we are entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs never stop learning. The moment we stop learning is the moment our income stops. Events like this are also great leverage. This is where the team get to learn for themselves, receive the inspiration for themselves and realize their goals and dreams for themselves.
Debbie: I agree with JR that attending big events is extremely important! Like mentioned above, you get the best advices and training from some of the best builders in the company. Having the chance of attending these events with your team is something that is honorable! Like the quote says “One team, one dream”, we are all at the Conventions to work towards our dreams!
Tien: I myself have never missed a convention, and I think nobody should. These events are the very important education everyone must get in order to build their UnFranchise business correctly. Without education it is very hard for anyone to be successful. I believe if it takes me 4 years of school and over 100k to learn how to work for someone else, it’s worth a few days of conference to learn how to build my life.
Kate: Conferences are a strong way to build your team cohesiveness. After my first convention, (MAWC2017) I felt so much closer to our team and it really helped me solidify my belief in this process and the business! We wake up as a team, line up for hours as a team, save spots as a team and get to watch the powerful speakers with thousands of other UFOs. It’s really an incredible experience!
SA Team: With International Convention coming up in August, it’s a big one. 25 years as a company. Do you have any big plans or goals to achieve from now until August?
Tracey: Yes! Our team definitely have a lot of work to do. We have started a accountability group to make sure we all commit to the Master UFOs and SABP and lead by example. We truly believe that if we can consistently hitting these two big goals, the rest will really unfold for us. We are more than grateful to have this business in our hands and now we are more than determined to let the world know about us and to help more people achieving their goals and dreams. Like Stacy Tung said, it’s time for us to buy back our life and take control of our destiny!
Debbie: From now until the International Convention in August, my goal is to get activated as soon as possible and to hit Executive Coordinator by the Convention! I also want to have 3 new partners that I will sponsor personally. I have already bought the tickets for these future partners, so now I just have to find them!
Tien: I certainly do! I am joining accountability groups with my team to push ourselves towards Master UFO and winning the MAIC2017 challenges.
Kate: Yes of course!! I am working to hit Executive Coordinator before International Convention and am also working on hitting the International Web Centre Challenge! Apart from that, I would love to keep building and helping our team reach THEIR dreams and goals!
