5 Easy Tips for Healthy Travel

Traveling for business (hello, 2018 MAIC!) or pleasure can easily derail your healthy habits. It’s easy to fall into the trap of indulging in high-calorie meals and skipping exercise because of that vacation mentality, but with a little research, some smart packing, and a bit of prioritization, you can plan your trip without missing a beat!  Here are our 5 easy tips for healthy travel that will keep you feeling amazing!

1. Turn Down for Sleep!

The most important thing you can do while traveling is sleep.  Many of our travels cause us to cross time zones, be on our feet all day, carry luggage, and deal with the stress of tight deadlines and unfamiliar surroundings! All of these things place extra strain on your body and immune system, and adequate sleep is what helps keep your immune system strong so prioritize accordingly!

How much is enough?  Listen to your body.  Both in transit and during your stay, try to get at least 7 or 8 hours of sleep every night. If you are adjusting to a new time zone, take the first day to stay awake until what would be your usual bedtime, then go for a full night’s sleep to quickly adjust. If you know you’ll have trouble adjusting or falling asleep in a new place, remember to pack your Isotonix Essentials™ Turn Down to help ease your mind into the restful state it requires to allow you to recharge + refuel!

2. Make Time for Breakfast

Don’t skip out and try to hold off until lunch. Between the blood sugar drops and hanger, it just isn’t worth it! If you’re worried about eating out for breakfast because you’ll be eating out for lunch and dinner, why not make your own?  Whipping up a quick TLS® Shake, blending it into a hearty smoothie, or adding a scoop of protein into your overnight oats/chia pudding is an easy-prep option that won’t break the calorie bank!

It’s the most important meal of the day for a reason – it gives you the energy to start your day on the right foot with plenty of energy and focus to carry you through!

3. Pack Healthy Snacks

Snacking is one of the easiest ways to derail your healthy habits. After all, local delicacies and treats are sometimes too good to pass up! While you shouldn’t deprive yourself of the truly unique, local experiences, it’s smart to have healthy snacks on-hand when you’re facing a convenience-store situation. Your stomach will thank you – trust us!

Stashing a few TLS® Whey Protein Shakes in your purse, a Choice® Energy Bar in your bag or even a packet of MochaTonix® in your back pocket can save the day when you find yourself hungry with limited options.

4.Pack Your Isotonix®!

It can be difficult to eat healthy balanced meals all day, every day even on a normal schedule! Even if you’re trying your best, it’s easy for a few essential nutrients to slip through the cracks.  Especially with the high-energy and long hours of MAIC, you’ll need to provide your body with the nutrition it needs to be at 100%.

Thankfully, you’ve got plenty of options with your Isotonix products! Whether you’re bringing along your own Custom Cocktail, a box of Daily Essentials and Women’s Health Packets, or filling your carry-on with as many packets of Turn Up as you can fit, you’ll be thankful you’ve got your daily health essentials before your first day has come to a close. Plus, you know you’re getting the best delivery of those daily health essentials with the delivery system you know and love!

5. Find Time to #FindYourFit

Maybe you don’t have your usual fitness class or a normal schedule, but there’s always a way to #FindYourFit! If your hotel has a fitness room, great. You can DIY your own exercises and break a sweat by hopping on the treadmill for a HIIT session and grabbing the free weights for a little resistance training!

If not, try to choose walking as your mode of transportation as often as possible during the day. Choose a coffee shop a few blocks away and give yourself some extra time to explore the city by foot! Who knows, you might just find a hidden gem that would have been passed over had you been traveling by taxi or car!
