If you haven’t trained with your significant other in a while, you’re missing out! A couples workout may not be the best type of everyday training if you’re serious about training. But, it’s a great way to connect, push each other, and even get a little competitive. This Valentine’s Day put your training schedule on hold and head over to the gym for some fun, fast-paced fitness before you start the day’s romantic festivities!

Just because you’re changing it up doesn’t mean you’re skipping one of the best moves there is! This move is the perfect couples workout and great way to shape up, get that heart rate up, and build those glutes! Have your partner spot you to make sure you hit at least 90 degrees + that knees track over your toes. Make it a little more interesting by adding a set of burpees between your sets + seeing who can do the most!

Since you’ve got a partner there to help, why not throw in this back-building exercise? If you can normally do a pull-up on your own, this is the perfect time to add a little weight or train past failure with a little helpful support! But if you normally stick to the assisted pull-up machine, here’s your chance to branch out. Add a little fun by seeing who can hit the most reps in 30 seconds, then decide what the prize will be later!
Yoga meets therapy meets romance in this bendy bit of fun! Yoga can be intimidating for some, especially when your Instagram feed is flooded with what seems like effortless handstands and one-armed balancing acts. Bring your partner along to a partner yoga session for the added support (physically and mentally) to take away a bit of that fear! Roll out the yoga mats and support – not lean on or into – your partner through the push/pull motions. Enjoy the silent moments when you can just be silent and connect with one another in stillness.
So maybe you took the day to sleep in or you just can’t talk your significant other into heading outside. Instead of pushing them out the door, set up the living room floor with your yoga mats, free weights, or heavy-ish objects around the house! Once you’ve got your setup, you two are ready to max out push-ups, lunges, or squats side by side. Google “bodyweight circuit” and see which set fits your fitness levels or step it up with the craziest one you can find. Just be careful and make sure you’re avoiding injury in the process.
What are you waiting for? Start off your Valentine’s Day with a rush of endorphins that’ll make you both appreciate breakfast in bed so much more!
