- Be a student
- Relentless perseverance
Being a student is more than finding a few webinars once in a while and plugging into a call every other week. Being a student means you have a passion to learn and you feel the need to feed that passion with whatever you can get your hands on. Listening to audios is great and so are webinars but what about everything else? What about business centered seminars, workshops, brain storming sessions, podcasts, books, books and more books. I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed with the wealth of knowledge to choose from, just find a few areas you can consistently pull info from and stick with it, it’s amazing what my knowledge base has grown into in the past 4 years.
I went from no sales training, no business building experience, no degree relating to what I’m doing now and I didn’t let that stop me. I now have a thriving web business because I spent a little bit of time each and every day to learn something new. You can do the same thing, so what did you learn today?
Relentless Perseverance in my opinion is borderline crazy, but might be what you need to be successful. Now understand that crazy doesn’t mean stupid so don’t mistake it for something it’s not and quit your job before you’ve made a single sale. What I mean by relentless perseverance is the drive and passion to progress as an individual when times get hard or things aren’t easy. If progress is being made, keep going and don’t quit!!!
I’ve come close to quitting a couple different times but the key here is that I didn’t. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. When you’ve come close to that point do me one favor, make a few adjustments and make another big push and usually you’ll be surprised at the result. You never know how close you are to having success if you quit.
During the webinar I talked about Peter Jones, the man who quit and that’s why no one has heard of him. Everyone has heard of Thomas Edison and how he pushed through over 1000 ways how not to build a lightbulb. So think of your business as Edison did, understanding you might just be one or two sales away from that client that helps you make it big with referrals or finding a business partner that elevates your entire organization. Be relentless and persevere!
Lastly, I want to touch on the possible game changer for you. This was a game changer for me and propelled me to where I am today. I thank Sarah Rose Stack for sharing with me the Small Business Saturday Special. As some of you have heard during the week of Thanksgiving (a short week, I know) Sarah was able to sell 7 websites one year and replicating what she did I sold 3 websites last year. My advice to you is to check out the recorded webinar to learn all the tips we talked about.
Be a student today and persevere relentlessly!
