Welcome to 2018 Market America | SHOP.COM International Convention! It’s great to be back in Greensboro with the entire UnFranchise® Community as we come together to celebrate the power of residual income and the Shopping Annuity®. Vice President Andrew Weissman hit the stage first to welcome everybody to International Convention. Andrew explained the events for the next four days and urged the crowd to stay active on social media with the hashtag, #MAIC2018.
After Andrew left, the crowd came to their feet for a spectacular rendition of the National Anthem by Patrick Lundquist.
Welcome to Market America’s 2018 International Convention – Loren Ridinger
To kick off the 2018 International Convention, Senior Executive Vice President Loren Ridinger arrived on stage to a standing ovation. Loren is happy to be here because like JR always says, it’s important to recharge your batteries and get back to basics as an entrepreneur. “On behalf of our corporate team, our 800 employees, and all of our UnFranchise Owner worldwide, welcome to the 2018 International Convention.”
26 years ago, Market America was created to give people a chance to create their own economy with a realistic business model and the residual income. Loren discussed how people forget to make a life instead of just making a living, “More people than ever are living in frustration to make ends meet…The deck is stacked against them. We are going to restack that deck at this convention.” Market America matches people to product and product to people and with the Shopping Annuity, we are making that possible. The outcomes are not promised, but equal opportunity is guaranteed.
Loren said, “We challenge ordinary people to become extraordinary.” At this convention, you will understand more clearly what it means to be open for business. Loren urges the crowd that this is their weekend because their best days are still ahead of them.
“Looking forward with hope is far better than looking backward with regret.”
Tools for Duplication — Andrew Weissman, Jim Winkler, and Sarah Rose Stack
Vice President Andrew Weissman and Vice President of Sales Jim Winkler hit the stage to discuss the tools for duplication. Andrew started off the presentation by reciting the entrepreneurial stats of the past 26 years for the company. The duo’s main goal is to enhance the UnFranchise experience. Andrew said, “All the tools that we introduce are all about duplication in one’s teams.”
All UFOs must start their UnFranchise journey with the Getting Started Guide. Use this guide to help recruit potential UFOs correctly. Every aspect of the Basic 5 must be implemented into your business so it can build. Please use this tool in recruitingThe Getting Started Guide will allow you to lay the groundwork for a successful UnFranchise Business.
From there, your goal should be to become a Master Member (Master UFO). JR always says that if you are following the proven business model and result-producing activities, you can become a Master UFO every quarter. One of the benefits of mastering the UnFranchise Business involves tax preparation through Deductr. The average small business owner leaves roughly $3,000 on the table due to a lack of tracking expenses. With Deductr, the app will properly and accurately track your business expenses so you don’t leave money on the table come tax season. More importantly, Deductr is FREE. It’s your personal assistant that you don’t have to pay!
Then, Jim discussed the benefits of the UFMS. The management reports are vital to growing as an UnFranchise Owner. Starting in September, the fee will be $21.95. For 73 cents a day, with the UFMS, you will receive the tools to support UnFranchise Business growth.
Director of Business Integration Sarah Rose Stack joined Andrew and Jim onstage to examine the new tools and resources in Market America. Three things that every UFO does are sell / use products, share the business, and promote education. “Coming this Fall, all of our UnFranchise support information will all be in one place on UnFranchise.com.” There is also a brand new Shopping Annuity presentation on shoppingannuity.com. Sarah explained that every UFO will now receive a new Shopping Annuity website dedicated to their name. It will be available in all of the primary languages.
At the bottom of every page on the Shopping Annuity website, there will be a mini Shopping Annuity Assessment. It will only take 3-5 minutes. It gives people a taste of what to expect as well as the amount of BV and IBV that the user could generate. It’s a fast and easy way to show new clients the business. Sarah ended her presentation by promoting the newest MeetON show, The GoNow Gameplan, which occurs on the first Monday of every month.
“The fast track to success is the Meeting Up Seminar,” Jim said. It’s 2 days of training with 3 trainers, which adds up to 18 hours of training. It is a lot of training in a small group so it is perfect for practicing result-producing activities. The small group also allows every UFO to ask questions and learn from our experts. In September, there are two Meeting Up Seminars in New York City. In November, there are two Moving Up Seminars in Miami. There are spots available in all sessions.
DNA Booth Experience – Amber Ridinger-McLaughlin and Duane McLaughlin
Creator of Lumiere de Vie and DNA Miracles Amber Ridinger-McLaughlin and Actor, Singer, and Creator of DNA Miracles Duane McLaughlin talked about how excited they are to be at International Convention. Amber and Duane made it a point for the crowd to stop at the DNA Miracles Booth. It is a fun and interactive experience that will a great time for both children and parents. Duane shared an emotional story that taught the valuable lesson of faith. Duane said, “Do not lose faith when you see other people’s prayers answered. Do not despair. Stay to yourself. My time is coming.”
Recruiting – JR Ridinger
Founder, Chairman and CEO JR Ridinger lit up the stage as he entered the Coliseum. JR explained how he first came to learn about entrepreneurs. “They are the alchemists of the economy. They are the high priests of society and the economy.” JR explained that “recruiting” is not part of this business. It should be called prospecting, qualifying, sponsoring, and the showing the plan. That is what recruiting is truly all about.
JR said, “It’s better to be a has been than a never was.” There’s nothing better than being in the game and being a star. If you did it once (a “has been”), you can do it again. JR discussed the impact that Jerry Siciliano and how UFOs need to be proud of this business. If you are not confident, you are going to struggle in this business.
How should you talk to people about the business? The big problem is that there are too many people that are trying to get in. You must talk to and sponsor the right people. It takes three months to sponsor someone. These recruits are your babies. JR’s recruits like Elizabeth Weber chose the highway, which is the real way to build the business. You need to develop the relationship first because your interactions with your new clients are of the utmost importance. “I don’t recruit. They end up recruiting me.”
JR asked a question to the audience: What would happen in this room if every single person added one person this month? Think about the pin levels this person could achieve if you were to focus on one single person. In order to add this person, incorporate experiential learning into your process. In order to build, you need practicing building. In order to prospect, you need to practice prospecting and so on and so forth. Practice when nobody is around. “The people who succeed did what the people who failed didn’t do. The people who succeed, succeed a lot,” said JR.
Timing is everything. Not everyone is ready to listen. You need large numbers in order to make sure that you find the right people who have the time to learn and grow. If done right, everyone leads to someone. JR explained the Bean Jar analogy. You don’t try to just get two people in your business at the beginning. You need to project successfulness and talk to as many people as possible. The more people you talk to, the more beans go into your jar. The more beans in the jar, the more nuts you find.
JR went back to basics and explained the Getting Starting Guide. If you do not activate your two recruits, you are technically breaking the contract that you signed when you became a UFO. If your recruits don’t bring other people in, there’s no point in sponsoring them because they will only hinder your growth as an UnFranchise Owner. All you need to do is make at least 2 calls a week and you will eventually find your GoNows. You can do it!
One of the reasons why JR can help the field even more now is due to President and COO Marc Ashley. With Marc as President, JR can spend more time in the field to clean up the problems and help others succeed. JR stated, “I am not an executive. I am an UnFranchise Owner!” How can everyone sponsor 8 in a year when activation only requires 2 qualified UFOs? The answer is vertical marketing. Sponsoring the right person will allow you to find more recruits, which is what the pump example is all about.
Many UnFranchise Owners need a UFO HealthCheck. The HealthCheck is a program serves as a way to reveal what you have done in the business and what you need to do to improve as a UFO. Each user asks themselves questions about their UnFranchise career (have you done the Shopping Annuity Assessment, have you sponsored two people, etc.). This will reveal to JR what he needs to do in order to strengthen the UnFranchise Business and MPCP. You can access this program on your computer or mobile device at healthcheck.unfranchise.com.
If your recruits show improvement and dedication to the company, then they are worth your time. UFOs should try and find these prospects through call workshops. Execution is important. You prospect by having possibilities and cultivating them. Possibilities lead to prospects using evaluation and referral technique.
Through prospecting, recruiting, and sponsoring, you can become a hopeless success. The foundation for these topics is belief. It begins with WHY and belief in the concept from knowledge and experience. You can become a master recruiter if you concentrate on a large list of possibilities rather than one individual at a time. Be a good coach. Watch and teach your recruits to become stars.
JR believes in trial runs with your prospects. Trial run are the process used to see if someone is right for the business, and if the business is right for them. Through which, they will lead to potential prospects and customers or in the final process disqualify themselves. They have to choose the 2 to 3 year plan over the 45 year plan to continue.
Speaking fluent in Market America is a big part of recruiting. The more comfortable you are, the more confident you will be with recruits. The Shopping Annuity, UnFranchise Business. MPCP, collective buying power, and the products are just a few of the key concepts every UFO should know.
JR wants the crowd to give the MPCP a chance. Take your time to master the business. You have to prove that your business is open. Anyone can sign up for the business, but that does not make them an UnFranchise Owner. You have to put in the time in order to reap the benefits.
“If you are not a Master UFO, unfortunately, you are not open. Your clock is not ticking.” It’s time to turn your clock back and return to having fun with your business. Go from 3 years to 6 months by turning you clock back. Set it back and audit yourself. How many months can you honestly say that you were building the business? How much time did you put into the business?
JR ended his speech by praising and introducing the next speaker, Pam Bowling.
Power Profile – Pam Bowling
Executive Field Vice President Pam Bowling came to the stage and explained her upbringing with her husband, Tony, who is also an UnFranchise Owner. The Bowlings had a successful photography business and lived a comfortable life, but they realized that the photography business was on the decline. Pam said, There are two ways to be a millionaire: You can owe it or you can have it.” The Bowlings needed a new plan. That plan was the UnFranchise Business and Market America. Pam opened up to the crowd about how Tony suffered a devastating stroke back in January. Pam thanked the Market America family for sticking by her side and supporting Tony during this difficult time.
Day 1’s morning session was one for the ages! Get ready for an afternoon full of fun. Who knows, we may go all the way up!
