Move over matte skin! Glowy skin is in and it’s here to stay. For the past couple of years, the skin that almost everyone is trying to achieve is a radiant complexion. Not only does it look healthy, it’s youthful as well as suitable for everyone. Those with oily skin no longer try to mattify their skin, in fact, they allow their natural oils to come out. With the cooler weather approaching us, the last thing we want is a dull complexion. Here’s how to achieve a healthy glow all year round!
Exfoliation is Key!
If you’re not used to exfoliating your skin regularly, now is the time to get into this good habit! The key to healthy and glowy skin is exfoliating. The process of exfoliation actually eliminates the skin’s outer layer of dead cells to expose a more clearer and smoother surface. In fact, exfoliating is so important, we’ve dedicated an entire blog post to it – go ahead and read about it for a more in-dept explanation.
Healthy Glow Ingredients
One skincare trend that will come up in 2020 is an interest in ingredients that target certain skin concerns. Use a serum, elixir or cream that have ingredients that can help brighten your skin. Vitamin C is a known ingredient in skincare that can brighten the skin.
One of our favourite Lumiere de Vie products that can help is the Illuminating Fading Fluid which includes the ingredient Illumiscin. This ingredient includes a combination of olive leaf extract, stabilised Vitamin C and Zinc PCA which can help reduce the appearance of dark spots.
Another important key thing to know about glowy skin is to keep your skin moisturised! A lack of hydration can definitely make your skin look duller, dehydrated and tired. To keep your skin looking healthy, drink water. Feeling thirsty means you are already dehydrated, so don’t allow your body to get to that point!
The body is most dehydrated when you’re asleep so you should keep a bottle of water next to you so you can replenish yourself in the morning. You should also regularly put on moisturiser both day and night. If you’re still after some more moisture, then a sheet mask will do the trick!
Antioxidant Rich Foods
Foods that are rich in antioxidants can also help boost that natural glow from within! You can slap on as much highlighter as you want however nothing beats a natural and healthy glow which equates to a healthy body. Some great antioxidant rich foods include:
- Greens: spinach, kale, broccoli, spinach
- Fruits: strawberries, kiwi fruit, blueberries, oranges
- Fatty fish (salmon, mackeral, herring)
- Dark chocolate
When it comes to drinks, green tea, especially matcha as it is incredibly high in antioxidants. If you’re after something more flavourful then a smoothie that includes a blend of fruits and vegetables above is also a great idea.
