What Is Wellmune®?
Wellmune is a natural yeast beta-glucan derived from a proprietary strain of yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This yeast works to support the cells which are part of the body’s natural defenses. What Does It Do?
This ingredient works to support immune cells, which are part of the body’s natural defenses. Clinical studies have shown that it promotes a healthy immune system. Its molecular structure, with its beta 1,3/1,6 branch points, is responsible for its unique biological activity.
How Does It Work?
When you ingest this ingredient, the immune cells in the gastrointestinal tract take it up and transport it to the immune organs throughout the body. While there, immune cells – also called macrophages – digest the Wellmune® into smaller fragments and slowly release them over a number of days.
As your macrophages release the ingredient, the fragments bind to CR3 receptors, specific receptors found on neutrophils, which are the most abundant immune cells in the body. In doing this, Wellmune® supports the activity of the neutrophils and prime them for their normal activity in the body such as promoting immune health!
It also supports the activity of phagocytic cells. These important immune cells are the ones that engulf and destroy foreign bodies. This is a great way that Wellmune® promotes immune health!
