Welcome to the 2017 Market America | SHOP.COM International Convention. This International Convention is extremely special as it marks the company’s 25th anniversary. That’s right, over two decades of entrepreneurial success! Vice President Andrew Weissman came out for the preshow address and shared some tips with the crowd for how to maximize their time at MAIC 2017. Weissman wants the crowd to “light up the Internet” on social media using some of the main hashtags #MAIC2017 and #MA25Years.
After Weissman, the crowd came to their feet for the stunning rendition of the national anthem by Carrie Manolakos. After the anthem, the crowd was taken down memory lane with a video montage of the past 25 years. The special documentary showed how the Ridingers and Ashleys started out in this business and how they turned their beginning struggles into eventual triumphs.
Welcome to 2017 Market America | SHOP.COM International Convention – Loren Ridinger
Kicking the festivities off was none other than Senior Executive Vice President Loren Ridinger. Loren welcomed everyone to MAIC 2017 on behalf of the entire Market America | SHOP.COM family. “25 years for 25,000 people. You have to pinch yourself. We made it!”
From the humble beginnings of 1992 to now, JR’s vision has become a reality. Thousands of people have gone from fear to faith to freedom. Throughout all of the ups and downs, the vision has not changed. In fact, the vision is just beginning because the best is yet to come.
“This magic moment would’ve never happened without the people. We are one team, one brain.” Loren talked about how there is plenty of room on the journey ahead because people power can do anything. Things can happen to you if you believe. You just need to find your “why.” Loren urged the crowd that “you have to do this. You need to do this for you and your family. People make thing you are crazy. Let them laugh. They are YOUR dreams. Take them back!”
From the beginning, you can tell that this is a special celebration. The mood in the coliseum is one of celebration as Loren hinted at the what’s to come during MAIC 2017 such as the new technological updates to SHOP.COM as well as to the Shopping Annuity. The number 25 was echoed throughout the presentation because as both JR and Loren have said, “Some say life begin at 25.” For Market America, that seems to be the case.
Tools for Recruiting and Duplication – Andrew Weissman and Jim Winkler
Vice President Andrew Weissman and and Vice President of Sales Jim Winkler hit the stage next and talked about how this is just the beginning for Market America. Jim said that we are always looking to get better through duplication in order to produce the result producing activities.
Jim said “We are trying to build two sales and distribution organizations that generate > 5000 BV and 5000 IBV.” Everything we do in this company starts in the Getting Starting Guide. It’s all about building a solid foundation. Market America can provide you lorn term profitability and stability.
“The Dynamic Duo” discussed how they even struggle to build their business because they’re trying to build too many business. Jim talked about the new policy that was just put into place. As of Tuesday, August 8th, BDC 002 right side and BDC 003 left side for all new UFOs will not be available for business development until that UFO earns professional Coordinator 3 months in a row. This allows new UFOs to build the strong foundation.
Andrew said “By following the tasks and tips in the Getting Starting Guide, you can become a Master UnFranchise Owner. It’s not secret. Master UFOs will make more than regular UFOs.” Andrew then went over what it takes to become a Master UFO such as completing the Shopping Annuity assessment, purchasing 3 tickets to the next major events, and complete a Basic 5 Diagnostic Test in which you score greater than 50%.
Because we are a digital company, the Master UFO submission form is now online. In order to help out your teammates, on October 1st, you will be able to track and see how your teammates are doing in the business. This will allow you to coach up your teammates that are struggling and help them become a better UFO. Another future update (coming at the end of the month), you will be able to take the Basic 5 diagnostic test online.
Andrew talked about the I AM SHOP.COM campaign, which shows how there are different groups of entrepreneurs all working to find success. Corporate professionals and moms were some of the videos released. A new video geared towards millennials debuted on the big screen.
National Supervising Coordinator and Director of Internet Sales and Training Sarah Rose Stack was invited on stage to talk about how we are in the digital age and how it’s time to take advantage of the assets we have available to build their business. Sarah said that we are moving all of the media documents into one place called the Media Index. Sarah also mentioned that UnFranchise Training is being updated to be accessible via mobile device.
“It’s not just a makeover. We really rethought the content.” Sarah discussed how UnFranchise Downloads is now becoming more accessible by cleaning it up and removing older downloads in favor of new, updated downloads. In the UnFranchise Prospecting App, new categories have been added to generate success. Other sites achieving updates are MarketAmerica.com. It’s all about making things simpler, but more efficient.
Jim discussed how Moving Up Seminars are vital to enhancing your skills as a UFO. Experts will break down exactly what you need to do to reach the next level.Executive Directors and Million Dollar Club Members David and Stacy Whited joined the stage and proclaimed how the Moving Up Seminar has evolved over the years for better. You get the answers that you need. “The proof is the pudding!”
Shopping Annuity (500 BV examples) – Kevin Buckman, JR Ridinger, Chris Peddycord, Ryan Stack, Len Allen, Don Martin, and Carl Eklund
Special Projects Consultant Kevin Buckman said that his favorite topic is the Shopping Annuity. “It is the essence of the UnFranchise Business.” Four thing every UFO must do in order to master the Shopping Annuity,
Each UFO has to identify all goods and services that they purchase for their household and look to see if there’s a Market America product that matches up with it.
If they don’t have it, go through SHOP.COM partner stores to find household items that you need.
Find 2 individuals and show them how to convert their spending into earning.
Build a repeat, retail customer base.
Kevin next talked about the Shopping Annuity Bonus Program. “The plan works until you introduce the human element.” Kevin talked about how people began to miss the mark on the true purpose of the SABP. The BV was not being increased and duplicated. That being said, Kevin said how we are going to get back on track and make money through the MPCP.
Founder, Chairman, and CEO JR Ridinger came onto the stage next to talk about how he respects UFOs commitment to make it here. “I am not a boss. I am a leader. I don’t want you to do what I said to do because I said to do it. I want you to do because it makes sense and you believe in it. You’re the boss!”
JR screamed that the UFOs have the voice to determine how to convert spending into earning. JR read the Shopping Annuity proclamation and reinforced the original and true mission of the Shopping Annuity, which is to make money from the MPCP, not the SABP.
JR’s big theme this morning is 500 BV. 500 BV is doable. If you struggle to reach the BV, that time is no over. JR said they are going to to add more BV specific products in order for different size families to hit their mark. JR says he is going to poll the crowd to determine what products will be apart of the Shopping Annuity.
JR understands that this number can be tough if you’re only shopping for 1 or 2 people. JR wants to get this out of your excuse pile so he showed real life examples of how you can reach 500 BV. JR used examples of how households of one, two, three and four can all reach 500 BV. You have to use the products. If you use the products for your everyday needs, you can and you will achieve more than 500 BV a month.
JR introduced the concept of Shopping Annuity BV products. It’s a third category besides BV products for retail and IBV products. They are not for retail, but they have higher BV. The products have lower costs and you get higher BV. They are specifically made to fund your Shopping Annuity and get you to 500 BV per month. As JR showed BV specific products, UFOs will later vote on these products to see which products should will become BV.

National Supervising Coordinator Ryan Stack hit the stage and reinforced the future of the Shopping Annuity is bright. “We are going to be what the rest of the world has to become.” The store distribution model is collapsing as more stores are closing every week. Everything is going online. For example, 3.4 billion was spent on Cyber Monday in 2016.
Ryan said that just like stores, ecommerce will experience a collapse in the future. Very few companies can survive on small margins so if companies compete for the small margin, the likelihood of collapse is not if, but when. What makes Market America different? Digitally Linked Distribution aka the Shopping Annuity. Sharing margins with customers and giving them Cashback grants them ownership and creates loyalty without sacrificing money.
Master Coordinator Len Allen joined the stage and asked this question: How much would you like to earn per month if you stopped or couldn’t work? Vice President of Business Integration Chris Peddycord hit the stage to talk about the ‘Uberization’ of the Shopping Annuity. Uber exploded overnight and that’s the hope for the Shopping Annuity. Chris discussed the new updates to the Shopping Annuity Assessment. It’s all about personalization and better tracking.Chris explained that he’s looking for more testimonials through Fanreel and Curulate because UFOs retail the products the best. It will help sell you more products.
One thing that just went live was UnFranchise Autoship on mobile. Also, in the assessment, there will be a more interactive Market America exclusive brand page. You will get a product image, price, and BV for each product. All of the personalization and customization can lead to more residual income into your pocket.
Another update is that for every major event in your life (birthdays, anniversaries, etc) will be tracked and you will be given personalized lists to make sure your gift is exactly what they want. Long story short, the assessment’s facelift will make it easier to determine what products you use on a daily basis. Everything on UnFranchise.com is going to be mobile friendly.
Power Profile – Elizabeth Weber
International Field Chairman Elizabeth Weber ignited the crowd with her energy and enthusiasm towards changing the world. “We might be the pioneers of Market America, but you can be the pioneers for the Shopping Annuity.” Elizabeth talked about her motivation, which was to create a better life for her and her kids. After trying 9 MLM’s in 11 years, Elizabeth finally tried out Market America, quit her full-time job, and the rest was history.
Elizabeth took a leap of faith and bought 10 tickets to one of the first major events in Market America’s history. That’s how she got into 6 figures. From there, Elizabeth kept duplicating and duplicating. She was doing the result producing activities that are necessary to succeed. “We are not selling tickets. We are selling belief.”
