Market America: Celebrating Excellence at the 2017 BBB Torch Awards

Today was a special day for Market America as our corporate team took part in a great event with our local chapter of the Better Business Bureau Serving Central North Carolina. Today’s event was a special celebration of local businesses who won the highly esteemed BBB Torch Award – which is given to companies who exhibit the very best ethics and morals in their business practices.

Congratulations to this year’s winners of the BBB Torch Award in Central NC: Slatter Management Services, Photobiz and Industries of the Blind. Making a positive impact on our local community and the world in general has always been a driving factor for our business – so it’s really special to see other companies coming together and supporting one another in this common mission.

As a past winner and platinum sponsor of the Torch Awards, Market America was honored to take part in today’s festivities, where we saw new Torch Award winners and new board members elected to our local BBB. In fact, President and COO of Market America Worldwide Marc Ashley just completed a 6 year term on the BBB Board – with one year as Chairman of the Board –  and during that time Marc made a huge impact in terms of building awareness for the great things we’re doing at Market America, and he also made a huge impact on the entire local business community.

While the main purpose of today’s BBB event was to celebrate local, ethical companies who are going above and beyond for their customers – this was also a unique opportunity to highlight some of the other ways we’re making a positive impact on the local community. We’ve always been firm believer in the idea that knowledge is power, and we wanted to help empower some hard working local students by awarding them with college scholarships. I’m excited to say that during the past year Market America has contributed $17,500 to help support the college aspirations of four very talented local students: Katherine Dodson, Mackenzie Brown, Julia Miller, and Olivia Moore. I’ve always said you have to Dream Big – and I hope these scholarships will help these students transform their dreams into reality!!! Congratulations!!

Today’s BBB Torch Awards were a celebration of ethics, community engagement and outreach – and the experience has been extremely enriching and rewarding for all of us. Thank you to Marc Ashley for serving on the BBB Board with great distinction during your six-year term. While I’m sure it’s bittersweet for you – one positive side effect is that we are now going to be eligible to win more Torch Awards of our own in the future!

A special thank you to local BBB President Kevin Hinterberger and the entire Better Business Bureau team for hosting this tremendous event today. Many of you will remember Kevin from this powerful video from just a few months ago at our 2017 International Convention – where Kevin spoke about our unwavering commitment to upholding the highest business ethics, and how we always do the right thing. This was a very special endorsement, especially considering that it came from a great business leader in the community…

We take a lot of pride in our association with the Better Business Bureau, and look forward to our continued partnership as we work to fulfill the BBB mission to raise the bar for business practices while also celebrating and recognizing the businesses who put ethics ahead of everything else.

Keep Growing!
