Janine Amato is an Executive Coordinator with Market America. She owns a nail salon, is a wife and a ‘mum’ of 2! She moved here from Manchester, England after meeting her now husband. When Market America expanded into the UK, Janine jumped on board and has been extremely active building a very successful team of Motives Beauty Advisors internationally. Janine has sponsored 12 new business partners in the US this past year, in addition to 9 in the UK!!! Read on for some great insight and advice to an up and coming Director!
What is your favorite Motives product?
Hmm… this is a hard one! I have a couple of favorites. It’s hard to choose! I really love the eyebrow kit. I love that it’s so simple to use for clients and always looks so natural when you apply it! I use it everyday.
What is one mistake you made while building business, and what is your advice to others who want to avoid making the same mistake?
My Biggest mistake was not talking about my business! I cared what people thought and what they may say! Instead of being proud of what I have to offer and helping others by sharing it! My goal is to be home with my children, to spend as much time as I can with them. You can never get the time back. I mean why wouldn’t you want to share that with other mothers, fathers and families? That’s just selfish!!! Everybody needs to know about this business!
How influential have events like World Conference and International Convention been on your continued success?
World Conference in Miami was my first corporate event and it really impacted me and made me realize just how powerful this business really is! The energy and success in one room is so inspiring, the training is amazing and the belief the corporate team has for everybody attending blew my mind! I finally realized why my leaders where always pushing me to go, and started taking my business seriously and taking the steps to success and Growing my business.
Can you give us a few of your best recruiting tips?
Honestly when recruiting I keep it real, and be myself! I am not a very professional person when it comes to presenting and speaking, so I just be me! I share what the business has done for me and why it would be a good fit for them! I think the key is defiantly to book your follow up appointment!
If they do say NO , keep in touch with them and keep a relationship going with them, a lot of my sponsors now said No in the beginning but watched my growth and success and approach me later to partner!I hated recruiting in the beginning, but now I love it, its so exciting to me, I think the excitement defiantly attracts people.
What’s a common challenge that you encountered as an entrepreneur and how did you overcome it?
I was so scared of showing the plan, or even bringing the business up!!! I got over this by going to local seminars to get as much training as I could and leveraging my team! I used a lot of three way calls and 3rd party meetings, these are awesome and it gives you credibility, confidence and practice!
I also just started jumping in and just doing it , I would make mistakes and mess up but learnt what works for me and what doesn’t , if you don’t just do it you will never find what works for you!
I still make mistakes now but I learn from them and move on. And, at the end of the day, your prospect has no idea if you messed up or made a mistake.
What advice do you have for people who are just starting to build their business with Motives cosmetics?
I would say be a product of the product, use the products and get comfortable with them! Our products sell themselves, but it’s so much easier to sell a product you believe in, that you know is the best and something you love!
Use your team members for help, three way calls, business meetings or just vent when you feel down. Without my team I would not be where I am today. They believe in me and always remind me of my goals and why I am building my business!!!
Listen to the steps on building the business, these are there for a reason, the biggest earners in the company all did these steps! Go to conferences, local seminars, trainings and UBPs! Educate yourself with the audios in the back office, utilize everything the company offers to help us succeed don’t ignore them, sometimes we make this business so much more complicated than it should be by not listening and utilizing what we have offered to us .
Believe in yourself, the company and your team. Without belief you will be at a standstill.
