There’s no better way to build your Motives® business than to learn from the very best in the industry, our Motives® Certified Trainers and Motives Beauty Advisors! We’re continuing our Motives® Spotlight series with Motives Director of Training and Sales Lisa Kostka. Read on to find out what she does to succeed in the industry!

What is your favorite part about working with a cosmetics line?

I love working in the beauty industry helping people look good on the inside literally changes how they feel about themselves. Seeing the transformations that makeup can make and seeing the smiles on their faces is why I do what I do. It is a very rewarding industry.  Everyone loves makeup and it is fun to play with makeup and try new looks. It is never boring especially with Motives Cosmetics; we are the hottest brand on social media and everyone is talking about Motives!

What is your favorite Motives product?

Personally, I cannot live without my custom blend foundation and powder. I have been using these products for over 14 years and my skin is actually better just from the amazing formula and pure ingredients. Custom blend foundation and powder is made from pure minerals. The liquid is infused with skin calming and soothing ingredients. These products are great for all skin types, skin tones and all ages. These products are chemical free, fragrance free and non-comedogenic.

What is the benefit of attending a Motives training at World Conference or International Convention?

Attending the trainings at these conventions are very helpful because you do not have to wait until a training is scheduled in your particular area. You are able to attend classes taught by me, the Director of Sales and Training. It is always good to hear the training from multiple trainers. You can always learn from everyone and every trainer has their personal stories that will help you.

What is one mistake you made while building business, and what is your advice to others who want to avoid making the same mistake?

I would highly recommend not just signing anyone up that has a pulse. You really need to make sure every person is a good fit and has the right traits to be on your team because you do not want to end up “babysitting” people. I want people that are connected and outgoing. I can teach people a skill, like makeup application, but it is more difficult to teach someone how to have an outgoing personality. You want to make sure every new business partner understands the expectations and what it takes to be successful. But you should also let them know you are willing to give them your time and attention. Adults learn by doing and you need to be able to do events, etc. with them. But, you cannot do it for them, it is 50/50.

How influential have events like World Conference and International Convention been on your continued success?

Events build belief. You get inspiration and belief from listening to all the leaders speak as well as one of my favorite things is hanging around positive and like-minded people. This company has the best people. When you go to these conventions, you meet people from all over the world and it is great for networking. What I love is the willingness of everyone to help each other and to lend a helping hand without even having any financial vested interested.

Sometimes figuring out where to start can be the most challenging part when it comes to achieving our goals. Can you name three small things that a Motives Beauty Advisor can do every single day to move them closer to their goals?

My advice is always once you determine that Motives is the area you want to “major” in, then go for the Motives Challenge. Print it out from unfranchise.com and follow the challenge. Attack the hardest things first. But, what you will find when you are just trying to achieve everything on the challenge your business automatically will explode!!!

What advice do you have for people who are just starting to build their business with Motives cosmetics?

Get on Instagram! Social media will get you out in the public eye and attract new people that you would not have normally been able to meet. Social media is a huge part of our business and everyone needs to follow @motivescosmetics on Instagram. You can repost what Motives puts out there and help to grow your own followers. But, the best thing is our company gives everyone the best tools and support to grow a very successful business. All you have to do is follow and stay “green” because when your “green” that means you’re growing! Keep growing!
