Shop Consultant Spotlight: Lisa Kostka

This week, our featured Shop Consultant is Lisa Kostka, successful UnFranchise® Owner & Director of Training and Sales for Motives® Cosmetics! Last Thursday we asked our Facebook audience what questions they would like to ask her about building a successful business. Interested in seeing if she answered your question? Read on!

Do you have any advice for someone who just started her UnFranchise® Business and is specializing in Motives® and wants to get things moving?

Make sure you buy some products because you cannot promote and sell something if you are not wearing it. I also would recommend attending Motives® Training classes. With both of these you will build your belief! You need 2 things: belief in yourself that you are talented, and you need belief in the products and the company in order to be successful. You will also want to book home Motives® events on a monthly basis. You need to build your customer base and expose a greater number of people at one time to Motives® Cosmetics.  This will build momentum and then you can book events with your team and duplicate your efforts. This will move your Motives business in the right direction!

Do you have any suggestions for kickoff parties for teenagers?

The most important thing for you to do at kickoff parties is to focus on a few products at a time. The more products you have, the more distracting it can be. Parties are great because everyone likes to get together with their friends and play with makeup. Don’t try to do full makeovers at parties. It takes up too much time. Just have a few key products that young girls love. For example: nail lacquers and  lip glosses. Then from your first event try to find a guest that would like to host their own Motives® event in their home. Always remember: we build from event to event.

Where do you go to recruit people?

What I have found is that it’s all about your mindset. Don’t go out to recruit, just recruit when you go out. Be a friend-making machine! Just go out and meet people and try to make friends. Ask yourself this question: are you interested or interesting? If you are interesting, you are trying to go out and tell everyone about our business and products trying to be interesting. Instead you want to be interested! That means interested in others. Learn more about them; be sincere and truly interested in others! That will help you become successful.

Which Motives® product is your best seller and why?

Perfecting Face Primer, because it makes your skin look flawless! It fills in all the grooves and imperfections on the skin so foundation glides on smooth, even, and stays on longer throughout the day. This works great for all skin types, skin tones and age as well as for women and men! Because everyone wants flawless looking skin, right?

While your focus is on Motives®, how do you relate retailing Motives® products to our other product lines?

Motives® is a perfect way to build customers because everyone is wearing makeup or knows someone who wears makeup. So, we just need to get them to switch from what they are currently buying and get them to buy Motives. Then you can build a relationship and ease them into skin care, because makeup only looks as good as the skin underneath.  Then we teach our customers about taking care of their body from the inside out, because if you have a lot of skin concerns it usually stems from something that’s going on the inside. If you take care of your body on the inside, then the skin on the outside will improve.

How often do you organize Motives® parties or other similar business-building events? 

You need to schedule these events at least a month in advance. Don’t wait to schedule events when you have enough people to attend; book the date, and then find people to attend. What gets scheduled gets done! You will take it more seriously and you won’t let life get in the way if you book these events ahead of time. You want to expose people to the Business Plan and our products, so try to set a specific day each week to book a Motives® Business Presentation as well as a Motives® Product Event. I like Tuesdays for booking a Motives Business Presentation, and Thursdays for booking Motives product events. The key is to make sure you book these events in other people’s homes or a team member’s home, not always in your home.
