We found some awesome social media tips around the web last week that are perfect for for UnFranchise Owners, and want to share them with you! From easy-to-use and totally free online photo-editing tools to a step-by-step tutorial for creating your first Facebook Business Page, we’ve scoured the web for the best tips our UnFranchise Owners can benefit the most from. Read on to find out what they are – and make sure to share them with your business partners! Tip #1: Posting to social media and sharing promotional content should only be part of your online presence.
If you’re using social media to build your business (and we seriously hope that you are), please remember that posting updates and sharing promotional content about your business or products should only constitute half – maybe even less – of your online presence. The rest of the time, you should be reaching out to people, responding to comments or questions, and actively engaging the people you follow and those who follow you. Want more tips like this one? Tip #2: Create a Facebook Business Page to build your UnFranchise Business and show the world what you’re all about.
Sometimes, creating a Facebook Business Page (which is different from a profile) is a great way to build your UnFranchise Business and your personal brand. We say “sometimes” because we want to caution you against posting purely promotional content on a Facebook Business Page, because doing so will only turn off potential customers and fans. Tip #3: If you’re a social media newbie, be selective about which networks to focus on first.
If you’re just starting out with social media, you probably feel overwhelmed by all the social media networks that are available to you. Rather than trying to learn all of them at once (which we’re 99.9999% sure is completely impossible) pick one or two to focus on first. Learn the ins and outs of them as much as you can and become familiar with their “help” section. Only once you feel totally comfortable – or, at leas,t almost totally comfortable – with the networks you chose, that’s when you can think about incorporating another one into the mix.

Tip #4: Use free online design tools to create eye-catching images – no prior design experience needed!
Study after study has shown that social media posts with photos get higher engagement across the board. There’s nothing wrong with posting “raw” images (images that haven’t been edited) straight to social media, but sometimes updates can use a little bit more “oomph,” like a fun graphic. There are a wealth of free online design tools you can use to create fun, eye-catching images, many of which you can find here. Our personal favorite is PicMonkey, which is easy to use and totally free (unless you want to upgrade to the paid version, but we think the free version is fine).
