Social Media Monday: Decoding Emojis

Whether it’s texts, tweets, or Facebook reactions, emojis have become a part of our everyday lives. Those silly little faces have become such a common way of communication nowadays, even by companies and brands. While emojis are pretty universal, we tend to see them used the most on Instagram. So the question is, should you include emojis in your post and which ones? Read on to learn some tips on communicating through emojis.

While some would argue that they tend to be over-used, emojis are meant to complement a message. For instance, if you’re posting a photo of your morning TLS shake, include a couple of emojis such as fruits that are in your shake. From your phone, you can easily add emojis to any social media post especially Instagram. Don’t forget to add emojis to your Facebook post! There’s no reason Facebook should be left out of the emoji game, but if you’re posting via desktop you don’t have instant access to emojis like on mobile. One of our secret weapons for emojis lies HERE.

Unsure what a certain emoji is supposed to be or the meaning behind it? Search the Emojipedia (yes, that’s a real thing)! The Emojipedia is full of information to help you decode emojis. Search a specific emoji if you’re unsure what it actually is plus see how it looks across multiple devices.
