These days, many of our favorite social media platforms are updating their algorithms to target specific engagement on social media. This week, Instagram joined the trend and announced their new algorithm that will change the order of the posts you see on your feed. Pause for Bliss, you may really like this new update. Read on to see how Instagram’s new algorithm could work in your favor!
Why the changes?
For starters, according to Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom- we’re missing approximately 70 percent of the content on our Instagram feeds. Yes, that’s 70% folks. Think about it, you couldn’t possibly catch everyone’s posts from all the different channels you follow. And as Instagram continues to grow, you often won’t see the posts that might interest you the most. As a result, Instagram is reorganizing your feed based on your interests and relationships and making sure that the 30 percent of content you do see, will be the best 30 percent possible. Brownie points for Instagram!
How does it work:
“The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.” – Instagram
So what does this mean?
If your favorite Motives Maven shares a makeup tutorial from last night’s look, you will see it front and center on your feed the next morning, regardless of how many accounts you follow. No more endless scrolling down your feed to catch posts from all your favorite channels! If you only have a few minutes to spend on Instagram per day, would you rather see what’s been posted the last few minutes, or the best of everything you missed?
