“If you want everything to change, you have to become the vision, the dream that you want to see happen.” – JR Ridinger
Everything begins with a thought. Thinking leads one to determine their “why” and what they want their desired identity to be. Make time to think, then decide. Upon a making a decision, you can start programming yourself to be a hopeless success.
Programming creates your beliefs. Beliefs create attitudes. Attitudes create feelings and emotions. Emotion determines behavior and actions. Actions determine results.
The programmed brain not only makes you behave in a certain way to succeed but also attracts the situations, circumstances and people needed to manifest your vision, “why,” and dreams. If you don’t intentionally create your future, your mind will re-create what it was programmed to become from your past programming. Your current habits are perfectly designed to deliver your current results. You are an accumulation of your choices, and nothing happens without making a decision. You become either a victim of circumstance or a hopeless success.
So, how do you program your mind?
Step 1: Think. You must have thoughts and ideas of what you want. Write them down.
Step 2: Activate these thoughts by visualizing and defining them, then begin the creative cycle; ask yourself questions such as the ones below.
- What if time or money were not an issue? What would I do with the rest of my life?
- What if I achieved the Director level? How would I live?
- What if I could live anywhere and do anything with my days? Where and what would it be?
Create a dream board to represent these thoughts visually.
Step 3: Make a plan. Break it down into steps, dates, strategies and a to-do list.
In order for your brain to activate the creation cycle and make these thoughts and ideas come true, it must logically understand how they can work. More importantly, taking action toward these steps validates in your brain that it is a new truth and can be accomplished. However, the opposite is also true; if you do not take action, it reinforces to your brain that it is not possible and is only a dream or a wish. Therefore, taking action toward your goals is vitally important for rewriting the program in your brain.
We determine what goes into our minds and what we expose ourselves to. Therefore, we can control the process.
Eliminate negative self-talk. Negative statements, verbally or mentally, will disrupt the program. You must cancel them, delete them and restate thoughts and statements in the positive. This silent self-talk is daily programming and takes a conscious effort to reverse. Create your own positive mantra. This conversation with yourself builds confidence in your mind’s eye.
Stating your goal statement out loud and visualizing yourself accomplishing your goal daily will continue to rewrite the program in your brain toward success.
