Guest Post by Jim Winkler, Vice President of Sales
It is that time of year again when we need to do everything we can to increase the number of business partners and prospects that we will have at the World Conference. The next three weeks can make a difference in the next ten years of your business. Everyone knows that there is no shortcut to the two to three year business plan. However, if you really want the two to three year plan to happen, you need to be very strategic and focused on getting your people to the major events. Getting people to the events is where the magic happens and where that billionth of a volt goes off in the brain. This where people go from interested to committed. I have heard hundreds (if not thousands) of people say that their business changed and grew after making it to a major event. No one has ever said the magic happens sitting on a couch.
As we are out sharing the business plan and doing two evaluations per week, we are going to run into some interested prospects. If the prospect is interested, always bring up the next major event and see if they are able to attend. Let them know they will learn more in three days at the event than they could in six months without going. There are other times that you have a prospect who is ready to get started but only has money to start the business or go to the event. Always chose getting them to the event. Don’t be concerned with 300 BV when getting them to the event can lead to a lifetime of BV and earnings. We would rather have their belief than their money. If they go to the event and love it, they are way ahead and will build that much faster. If they go the event and don’t like it (personally never had that happen), you did not waste your time with someone who wasn’t going to build anyway. Either way, you win.
The next key is to make sure you have as many of your teammates at the event with you as possible. Nothing makes a bigger impact than a personal phone call. Don’t think that posting something on Facebook is going to get someone to the event. You need to pick up the phone or meet with them in person. Make sure you have already looked at flights to see what the best prices are so that you can share that with them. Think about who they might be able to share a room with to save on costs. Sometimes you are going to feel like you are a travel agent but it is so worth it to help your people get to the event. Get creative. If money is tight, hold a couple of product events ASAP and generate extra retail profit to pay for some of the incidentals of the trip.
During team corings and in the meeting after the meeting have teammates share what going to the major events have done for their business. Sometimes it is better for your teammate to hear it from someone other than you. You can do this with three-way phone calls as well and let the expert from afar share with your teammate why they should make the decision to go.
The time is now. Don’t hesitate. Make those extra calls. We look forward to seeing you, your teammates and prospects at World Conference
