Many of us sit at a desk for eight hours each day at work and make a habit of grabbing quick, convenient and often unhealthy choices for lunch. Working a full-time job, Cheryl Alessio ultimately fell into this cycle and continually made poor eating decisions. Read on to learn how TLS® helped Cheryl improve her diet and drop pounds in just 12 weeks!
In total, I lost 18 lbs. during the course of the 12-week challenge.
2. What was the most difficult part of your weight loss journey?
The most difficult part of the journey was learning to say “No” to the delicious foods – or carbs – that I was eating! It was definitely a challenge in the beginning, but over time it became much easier! When you work a full-time job it is so easy to fall into a poor diet. I was eating chicken quesadillas, pizza and mac n cheese a lot! It sounds so good, but I ultimately realized that I would have just as much satisfaction eating a salad with grilled chicken, or freshly baked salmon and vegetables! I didn’t feel sluggish and lackadaisical when choosing the healthier option. Ultimately, I felt much better.
3. What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned about weight loss?
The most important lesson I learned about weight loss is that making healthy choices is REALLY a lifestyle. It’s so easy to fall back into old habits. You also really need to change your mentality on your food choices and put in the time to exercise. Most people make the excuse and say that they don’t have time to work out. But when you make exercise a priority, you get it done. And trust me, it feels really good!
The most rewarding part about weight loss is seeing the results. I’ve learned that you can’t lie to your body; it knows how much exercise each week you’ve been doing and the food choices you’ve made. I loved seeing the scale go down and my measurements get smaller. It’s really rewarding! I went down to 117 lbs., I haven’t been that small since before high school!
5. What advice can you give to people who are currently working toward their weight loss goals with TLS?
My advice to others on the TLS Weight Loss program is to push yourself. It’s not easy, and it takes a lot of discipline to complete the 12-week program. But it definitely helps having a buddy [participate with you]. If you have a partner that you can complete it with, I’d say to go for it! It definitely helped keep me focused.
