Summer is upon us! Many of us will take the opportunity to get away during the summer months. Our escape often includes loading the family up in the mini-van or jet setting to somewhere warm and tropical. Summer is the time of year when relaxation and escapes are completely acceptable – and much needed – opportunities to step outside of the real world and get a little R&R with family and friends.
If you are currently filling your suitcases, or dreaming of the white sand and your getaway that is in the nearing, we want to share some traveling tips and must haves with you to assure that your vacation is nothing short of relaxing, reinvigorating and amazing.
It can be hard to put up that out-of-office response and turn off the mobile phone. Here are some tips on how to relax on vacation:
Tip #1: Don’t over schedule it & be flexible.
This means stick to one locationfor a period of time (a few days or even the entire vacation). Only aim to do a few things each day, such as read by the pool, make the family one meal, do something active, etc. The aim is to try not to do too much in one day. If you think it might be too much, then it probably is. If something doesn’t go exactly according to plan, just role with it! Vacation is meant to be relaxing. There is no need to stress over the things that you cannot control.
Trip #2: Ditch the Technology
Don’t even bring that pesky laptop with you! You will just be tempted to jump on and check your work email. So much of our lives are spent running from one thing to the next, and this is the time to slow down. Set an intention to savor your vacation time, foster connections with your family, and do things you might not normally do (get a massage, take a nap, etc.).
Tip #3: Go somewhere where you can truly relax
No wi-fi isn’t such a bad thing! Disconnect from the world and chose a location that gets you away from the hustle and bustle and allows you to really shut down and unwind. You will return to the real world feeling absolutely rejuvenated.
To make sure things go smoothly on vacation, we recommend these travel must-haves:
Travel Must-Have #1: Luggage
Equip yourself with the right luggage! Packing is so much easier if you purchase the appropriate bags to accommodate your needs. Whether you are just looking for a weekend duffle, or and international roller-bag, read the review before you buy and make sure that it is exactly what you need. We recommend this bag for the longer trips and that bag for the shorter stuff.
Travel Must-Have #2: Travel Kit
Space is everything when you are packing all that you need for 2 weeks in to one bag. Travel kits are your new best friend. The Royal Spa Travel Kit, Skintelligence Travel Kit and Motives Boxed Beauty come to mind when planning out our must-have packing list. And they are TSA approved!
Travel Must Have #3: Camera
Well, duh! Don’t you want to document your adventures? We recommend bringing something a little heartier than your iPhone to capture your next family vacay to the Caribbean. Hereis a fun option!
