Mourning the King of Pop

June 25, 2009 marks a day the world of pop music wept. Suffering from cardiac arrest, Michael Jackson passed away at the age of 50. Although he started in the business at such at young age, the impact that he had on the world of music at different stages of his career and the ability to reinvent himself each time was astounding. Known as an international pop icon, Michael Jackson had a talent that no one could match. The way he would glide across the stage in his signature Moonwalk move, or the way he created vocal harmonies and hit those recognizable high notes, or who could forget about that legendary sequined glove that became a trademark for a generation.

Watching the memorial service and hearing the words from those that were close to him, made you realize. With all of the media and controversy that followed him throughout his career showed that to us he may have been the ‘King of Pop’ but to his family and friends he was a caring and devoted father, a loyal friend, a talented and inspiring brother, a loving son.

Whether as an idol, friend or relative Michael Jackson will live on forever in the hearts of everyone whose life he was a part of. From the days of The Jackson 5 to the days of ‘Beat It’, ‘Billy Jean’, ‘Thriller’ and ‘Man in the Mirror’; the music he created will forever be idolized and an inspiration to artists of all types.
