Profiles of Hope: Lisa Grogan

IMG_8573Like many women diagnosed with breast cancer, Lisa Grogan was left with a sense of uncertainty when she first learned of her diagnosis. She first thought of the outwardly visible changes her body would undergo, but she also contemplated what would happen to her family if she was not here. For Lisa, learning she had breast cancer was a surreal experience – but it might not have happened at all.

Lisa had always been reluctant to have a mammogram, but at age 38 she heeded the advice of her OBGYN, and underwent the examination. Were it not for this mammogram, Lisa wouldn’t have discovered that she had breast cancer.  In Lisa’s case, early detection was a key factor, and she cannot stress enough just how important it is to have regular checkups. Take Lisa’s advice – don’t be like an ostrich with your head in the sand. Be proactive when it comes to your health!
