With regular use, makeup brushes develop dirt and bacteria, breaking down the bristles over time, so prolong the life of your brushes with regular cleaning. Follow these steps to properly cleanse your brushes while you are away from home:
- Wet the brush hairs under the faucet with warm water while pointing the brush downward. This will help prevent water from running into the ferrule (metal part) or down into the handle.
- Create a cleansing solution and apply it to the brush hairs by spraying a hand towel or paper towel with this solution. Swirl your brushes in the towel until clean.
- After thoroughly rinsing, gently brush hairs on a clean towel and lay the brush on its side to dry on a towel. Reshape the brush hairs to prevent splaying. Do not dry brushes standing up as water can run down into the ferrule or handle, which could break down the glue that holds the brush together.
- Let brushes dry completely before using.
