What is your favorite part about working with a cosmetics line?

What I love most about working with a cosmetics line is the ease of operation. Normally, had I needed to pursue and obtain my own cosmetic line, I would have to deal with inventory and manufacturing costs, product headaches, and cost of operation in dealing with the distribution. Now, I don’t have to worry about any of that, and put all the focus in moving the Motives product line. It amplifies my revenue efficiency to 100%.

What is your favorite Motives® product?

I adore the custom blend foundation set. The ability to match any skin type, and blend any skin tone is amazing.  It has set me apart in my bridal beauty industry locally, and it allows me to have repeat customers coming back to me after the wedding to get more foundation. Customer retention is the holy grail of retail, and to have a unique product that keeps your customers coming back to you automatically is absolutely incredible.

What’s the best way to get someone who loves MAC or Smashbox to try Motives®?

I think there’s no better way to convert a potential client or business partner than to sit down with them and show them one-on-one.  Makeup and cosmetics are part of a retail strategy that really requires “hands-on” experience to really identify the unique features of the Motives line. Therefore, identify their favorite competitor product, and sit down with them to show them what Motives has that is better. With the addition of custom blend, you can pretty much match or beat out any standard product out there in terms of quality.

What is YOUR favorite MotivesCosmetics.com feature you always share with your customers?

The trend right now is videos, tutorials, and social media. I share a lot of Motives® videos, and I really wish I had the time to make more of my own tutorial videos too.  The social media reports all point to an increase in video clicks and conversion, so anybody who is using social media to build their business needs to be aware and take advantage of this trend.

What’s a common challenge that you encountered as an entrepreneur and how did you overcome it?

The daunting challenge that weeds out most entrepreneurs I work with is the dynamic of working for yourself. Nobody can attain your own success but yourself. When you work for someone, it’s someone else’s responsibility to be successful; you just carry out tasks and keep the system running. But when you work for yourself, you have to change that dynamic as the onus falls upon you. You have to develop a solid action plan, and more importantly, stick to it. Mentally challenging yourself and carrying out your daily task assignments is one of the toughest aspects of being an entrepreneur, because every other aspect in your life is going to attempt to draw your attention and focus away from your priority to succeed. You have to get up every day with the mentality that your will is going to overcome your fear of failure, and put aside every excuse and just do it. There is no magic potion or secret shortcut to success; you already have that shortcut in a Motives® business. It’s just putting in the work and patience to see it to fruition.

Sometimes figuring out where to start can be the most challenging part when it comes to achieving our goals. Can you name three small things that a Motives® Beauty Advisor can do every single day to move them closer to their goals?

It’s very simple. If you want to succeed, you need to do one of 2 things every day: set out to either show the business plan or sell a product every single day. If you can do either one daily, you will succeed whether you like it or not.
