5 Minutes with Motives Creative Advisor Maria Checa

Our product team is busy gearing up for World Conference next month, so I was lucky to score 5 quick minutes with Motives Creative Advisor Maria Checa earlier this week to discuss beauty, cosmetics and working for Market America. Read on for her interview and a preview of what’s to come from Motives Spring/Summer 2014:

What is your favorite part about working with a cosmetics line?

I love color and art and to me, makeup is an art medium. I get to help create colors, moods and storylines to create a beautiful look. My favorite part is helping women stay on trend while helping them bring out their natural beauty to the max. I love that I get to do that!

Do you get to try lots of samples?

Of course! I’m one of the people that approves and helps create every product we are going to carry in the line, so it’s a must for me.

What is your favorite Motives product?

This is not a fair question because I really love and believe in this line! 🙂 If I have to choose one, I would have to say Motives Beauty Weapon. It’s great for travel because it’s light and you can get so many looks from this one palette. It’s also super cute and a great gift option!

What is the benefit of attending a Motives training at World Conference?

When you are in sales, you need to know everything there is to know about the product you are selling. The Motives training does that AND it gives you tips on how to sell and grow your business. It’s a must for anyone wanting to be successful.

Which kit do you recommend purchasing for the new Motives Beauty Advisors?

We have different kits because everyone is different. Your advisor will let you know which one would be the best for you. For example, I’m the type of person that would want the kit with the most products because, for me, it’s harder to sell what is not in front of the customer to try. I would want to play with as many product as possible and give my customers as many options as possible!

What’s the best way to get someone who loves MAC or Smashbox to try our products?

That’s easy! Simply show them our product and try it on them. They will see what a great quality of makeup we have for the same or lower price point. This is a perfect example why we need to carry as much product as possible! You have to show the customer how great we are.

What can we expect to see at World Conference from Motives?

Wow! Motives will have great new products at World Conference. You can except to see the Spring/Summer campaign as well as a new collaboration that we are super excited about!

What influenced the Paparazzo line for Spring/Summer 2014?

The Spring/Summer 2014 line was inspired by fresh summer beauty that will make you feel and look so fabulous that people are just going to want to know who you are and will want a picture with you or of you. You will attract that attention with our summer line! 🙂 So look out for paparazzi!
