The month, our Health & Nutrition team highlighted the benefits of Isotonix® Multivitamin and its importance for supporting proper body functioning, including an informative and exciting webinar hosted by Elizabeth Benton yesterday.
In case you missed out yesterday, our weekly Product Spotlight breaks down the importance of not only taking a multivitamin, but taking one that is isotonic. We hope this information reminds you why you should take your multivitamin and help you show others why they should, as well!
Let’s peddle backwards first and review why vitamins and minerals are important.
Vitamins help the body maintain normal metabolic function, convert food into energy, help growth and body repair, build immunity, synthesize hormones, and activate enzymes for proper body function. Vitamins need minerals to perform these actions.
The body uses minerals to activate enzyme reactions within the body, support electrical transmitters, regulate water and electrolytes, and metabolize the three major dietary nutrients: proteins, carbohydrates and lipids.
In a nutshell, vitamins and minerals are essential for basic survival.
Where do we get vitamins and minerals?
Thousands of years ago, before the days of manufactured supplements, humans found sufficient nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in their diet from plants and foods grown around them. However, over time and especially in recent years, the high demand for production and preservation and the industrialization of farming have decreased the amount of vitamins and minerals found in whole foods.
The industrialization of agriculture which allows farmers to produce more plants faster and that last longer gives plants less time to absorb nutrients naturally. The ingredients in fertilizers interfere with the natural absorption process as well as contribute to soil-mineral depletion.
According to The Journal of HortScience, the average vegetable found in today’s supermarket is anywhere from five to 40 percent lower in minerals, proteins and vitamins compared to those harvested just 50 years ago.
Why take a supplement?
With the prevelance less nutrient rich foods on the market, it is becoming more and more important for humans to fill in the gaps, which is where a multivitamin supplement comes in. Many supplements contain 100 percent or more of the vitamins and minerals the average human body needs.
So why Isotonix®?
Isotonic refers to when the fluid consumed is concentrated the same as the body’s fluids, allowing for proper cell metabolism and effective transportation through cells. In comparison to other forms of consumption, isotonic consumption delivers the maximum amount of nutrients to the bloodstream faster. Taking supplements in pill or capsule form can take between 40 minutes to four hours, while isotonic delivery can happen as fast as five minutes. In the time it takes to digest a pill or capsule, the body loses vitamin actives and traps micronutrients.
Isotonix® Multivitamin has 100 percent of many of the vitamins needed for proper nutritional balance and even exceeds 100 percent in some nutrients.
If you love your Multivitamin and wondered how to maximize the amount of proper nutrients or what to recommend to anyone looking to achieve optimal health, we suggest the Daily Essentials Kit, which contains Isotonix OPC-3®, Isotonix® Multivitamin, Isotonix® Activated B-Complex and Isotonix® Calcium Plus.
