Building a successful team is no different with Market America and SHOP.COM than coaching a winning team. A team must be led. A mistake that many make is they put so much effort in to recruiting someone, and then they drop the ball. Assembling the team is just the beginning. The true work is in the everyday building of the business.
Our new business partners have never built an UnFranchise®. They are excited about their business, and want to learn everything. As a business coach, you are the expert that will teach them the Basic 5 fundamentals. This is an integral part of leading someone to success. Everyone that has achieved great success had a coach/mentor!
Coaches who can outline plays on a black board are a dime a dozen. The ones who win get inside their player and motivate. -Vince Lombardi
Over the last two years, I started a 12-week Coaching Program with each of my new business partners. I use The Getting Started Guide as my playbook (available under downloads in your UnFranchise® Account). I am not re-inventing the wheel. I am just making sure that my business partners learn, implement, and duplicate “the plays” correctly. We start with the beginning of The Getting Started Guide: navigating the tools, what is it?, 2-minute commercial, establishing goals, and then focus on the result producing activities: use and share the products, show the business plan, and promote and attend the trainings.
The reason I began the individual coaching calls is that everyone has different skill sets, and personalities. Take 30 minutes each week to coach that person, and give them your undivided attention to establish a business plan based on their goals: How many calls per day? How many plans per week? What is the follow-up plan for each person, etc? As they begin retailing, prospecting and recruiting, we can talk about what went right or wrong with appointments, phone calls, showing the plan, etc. We schedule 3-way calls with prospective distributors, which is one of the best coaching methods. Each of these is a teaching moment, and with practice and guidance they gain confidence and belief. And all while building their UnFranchise® business.
The weekly call creates accountability. Your new business partner knows they will be talking with you one-on-one each week, and that drives action. By the end of 12-weeks (90 days), you have a business partner that is successfully building, and coaching their team correctly. For example: I recently sponsored Donia Anderson from Ohio who started her UnFranchise™ business 8 weeks ago. She has activated her business, qualified for her first check, and retailed over $1,600. This dedicated time with your business partners builds a solid foundation that will put in motion all the right things to pay you for years to come.
