Social networking is an extremely powerful tool — especially if you’re an Internet retailer like Market America. With such dramatic increases as a result of the powerful opportunities social networking provides and an overall mainstream shift towards using this medium more and more, in many cases, your online profile is fast becoming the first impression that others will get of you.
When you’re setting up accounts on various social networking sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and a host of others to showcase yourself the business that you’re in, it is important to remember there are proper and improper ways to indicate your affiliation with a business or company.
Here’s one such example on indicating your affiliation with Internet retailer, Market America. In this example, you must clearly indicate that you are a Market America Independent Distributor or Independent UnFranchise®Owner on any social networks.
Here are examples of what is permissible and what is not permissible:
Permissible:
[Your name], Market America Independent UnFranchise® Owner
[Your name], Market America Independent Distributor
Not permissible:
[Your name], Owner at Market America
[Your name], Market America Employee
[Your Name], Market America
If you’re a Market America Independent UnFranchise® Owner, please consult Chapter 20 of your Career Manual. If you do not see an answer to your question, please e-mail internetcompliance@marketamerica.com.
