Shop Consultant Spotlight Special Edition: Phil Guido

Learning from the experience of other UnFranchise® Owners is a great way to build your business, so we’ve created a brand new blog feature that will help you do just that! We’re excited to introduce “Shop Consultant Spotlight,” a weekly interview with a top Shop Consultant answering YOUR questions!
In this first of a special edition two part edition of our Shop Consultant Spotlight series featuring Phil Guido. To pick up where we left off earlier in the week, Phil shared some of his best business-building advice for the New Year as well as his goals for 2013.

Market America: What’s the most exciting business move you made in 2012?

Phil Guido: By far the most exciting business move we made this year was to expanding our business in the United Kingdom.  It was a lot of fun, a big challenge, and an adventure all wrapped up into one.

MA: How did you utilize social media to build your business this year?

PG: My wife Sue and I have sponsored at least 6 or 7 people in the past 6 months by using social media. Sue likes to visit online MeetUp groups in the geographic areas where we want to expand our business. To do this, she looks at MeetUp member profiles and strikes up conversations with those who seem like the type of person we believe would make a great Shop Consultant. Those conversations eventually result in a discussion about our business. I have also started using Twitter this year. I began by following others and by sharing my Twitter handle with everyone I came in contact with, which helped me develop my own Twitter following. I tweet about news or post articles that are topically relevant to the area I specialize in, which is health, nutrition and anti-aging. Sometimes I tweet about an upcoming event that may be of interest to my followers.

MA: I have a few friends who are very close minded towards the work that I do as an UnFranchise® Owner. One of my goals for 2013 is to address their misconceptions about Market America and encourage them to open their mind to what I do. How do I do this without seeming pushy?

PG: I always ask people not to form an opinion until after they get all the information first. The best way to help them become informed is by encouraging them to attend an information-only UnFranchise® Business Presentation. This will give them the opportunity to see our business model and have the opportunity to meet other credible, successful individuals who are on your team. What is so impressive about UBP meetings is that not only is the guest speaker earning an incredible income, but all the other UnFranchise® Owners in the room are from every different background you can imagine and are all earning income as well! When people witness this kaleidoscope of individuals who are all succeeding in this business, it goes a long way towards opening even the most closed minded people.

MA: What is your New Year’s resolution for 2013?

PG: One of my new year’s resolutions is to create more income earners in my UnFranchise® business organization than ever before.

MA: If you could go back in time to when you first started your UnFranchise® business and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be and why?

PG: Building a business and achieving a high Pin Level and the income that goes along with that is great, but you have to make sure you pay down your debt with a goal of becoming debt free as soon as possible. Having a high income with a high maintenance lifestyle and a ton of debt is hard to maintain and no fun at all.

MA: What do you want UnFranchise® owners to know going into the New Year?

PG: Your success in Market America will be commensurate with your belief and expectation. If you truly believe in and accept your ultimate success as a given and function of time, you will succeed.
