Makeup may be all about bringing out your unique beauty, but the Motives costmetics business is all about duplication—creating people who can do makeup like you do, to do more for you.
The new Motives catalog streamlines the entire information and ordering process, by combining Loren and Lala’s lines, adding clearer instructions to help people find the colors that work for them, and including information about booking events. The websites (which are now free to all distributors!) have some great added functionality as well. First, a “Host an Event” function has been added to the website, so a hostess can sign up on your personal Motives page or simply request a party and be matched with a consultant. Second, the “Meet Your Match” master list shows customers the Motives equivalent of their current products, from dozens of major beauty lines, making it even easier for them to make the switch. Third, an online color wheel is a fun way for customers to find the colors that work best with their skin, eye, and hair color.
The emphasis is being placed squarely on developing Motives as a business, now that the products have been improved to world-class quality. New trainings have one day of application & technique and one day on building your business; printed materials include charts that break down products based on who they’re for to take the guesswork out of the process, and consultants in each international market will have custom palettes designed for their region to make demonstrating even easier.
“It’s not how you apply makeup, it’s about teaching people to look good, feel good, and make money, said founder Loren Ridinger. “We want to take the guesswork out of it, because you don’t have to be a Motives consultant to sell Motives.” The 20 new Motives Challenge winners then joined Loren, Kimberly Yow, and Tanya Smith onstage to be recognized for their hard work—because as beautiful as they all are, it’s their business skills that got them to the stage.
