New Research on the Importance of Vitamin D

A recent study in the Archives of Internal Medicine reported the findings of Austrian researchers studying the possible association between low blood levels of vitamin D and an increased mortality from cardiovascular disease. A total of 3,258 patients scheduled for coronary angiography testing were recruited and had their blood levels of vitamin D measured. After 7.7 years of follow up, their findings clearly demonstrate people with low levels of vitamin D are more than twice as likely to die from cardiovascular disease as those with high levels.
